Charities

Please find below a list of Charities that would welcome your support

Cancer Research UK
Cancer Research UK is the world’s leading independent organisation dedicated to cancer research. Every year we spend over £3 million in the North East, supporting the work of scientists, doctors and nurses who are dedicated to beating cancer. Specifically in Teesside, Cancer Research UK is supporting the UK Collaborative Trial of Ovarian Cancer Screening, which will help to assess the effectiveness of a national ovarian cancer screening programme.

To be part of the Cancer Research UK running team at the Middlesbrough Tees Pride 10K, please see the link at the bottom of this page to the Cancer Research UK website.

Diabetes UK
Diabetes UK is the leading charity in the UK offering membership to people with diabetes, supporting them and helping them to understand and manage the condition better over the long term. Recognising the crucial role played by healthcare professionals and researchers we also provide professional membership, providing information, guidance and networking opportunities.

Zoe's Place
Zöe's Baby Hospice was a new project, it was unique, the first in the country specifically for babies with multiple special needs. Zöe in Greek means Gift of Life, an appropriate name for our non-denominational and multi-cultural Hospice, as all our babies come to Zöe's to live 'life' to the full. The babies that come through our doors have varying conditions, Multiple Special Needs. They are all very special, bringing with them joy, laughter, love, they are all individual's all little human beings. Charity Number is 1092545

Making a Difference
Making a Difference aims to support the local community by awarding grants for the benefit of charitable groups and projects across the Tees Valley area.

Over recent years we have been able to help many local charities ranging from children's hospice to a well deserved break for the elderly

Forget Me Not Fund
Charlotte Wren Forget Me Not Fund was set up in July 2007 in loving memory of Charlotte Wren aged 3years old, from Marton,Middlesbrough.

Sadly Charlotte fell asleep one last time in the arms of her mammy and daddy on 12 June 2007.

The aim of the fund is to raise vital money for research into this rare and deadly leukaemia, providing a lasting legacy that celebrates the life of Charlotte.

If you want to be part of the 'Pink Princess Posse' running team or you want further information of how to donate to the Fund please contact: m.c.wren@talktalk.net or Kath Harrison (020)72699091e-mail at; forgetmenot@lrf.org.uk.

Charlotte fought an inspirational and brave battle for the gift of life, against a very rare childhood leukaemia known as JMML.

Step Together
Step Together Centre in Spennymoor teaches children with cerebral palsy and other motor related disorders how to cope with everyday life through meaningful activities and group dynamics. The centre uses conductive education (based on a hungarian 'Peto' system of rehabilitation), which motivates the individuals in the group to solve problems and learn more ways to achieve their full potential. The centre also encourages the integration of disabled people into society through cognitive, communicational and social processes. Step Together are hoping to open a centre in Teesside shortly, as it has so many children attending from this area, to do this they desperately need to raise more funds! If you would like to run in the Step Together team or would like to find out how to donate please contact p.hammy@tiscali.co.uk or for further information visit their website
