This section gives you details and a daily training schedule for both the 5k and 10k races.

Regular exercise should be a way of life and the benefits can be tremendous. Regular training for the Run Middlesbrough events can increase: fitness levels, energy, self esteem and confidence.

By following one or more of these programmes we hope to get you in the best possible condition to help you achieve your personal goal.

The 5k training plan which can be downloaded below is for beginners, suitable for those that currently don't undertake any exercise but by following the simple day by day guide would be able to take part in the 5k Riverside Run on 13th May.

Taking part in the 5k can be the perfect stepping stone towards the Tees Pride 10k race on 2nd September.

For training plans for the 10k visit the sections on the left which have been developed for all types of runners from those that just want to get round the course to those wanting to run it in under 38 minutes.
